Best Places for Songkran Festival in Bangkok
The well-known Songkran Festival, also known in Thailand as New Year, will be convened in April. Prepare for the most exciting water fight and brace yourself for a soaking!
Silom
The liveliest Songkran celebrations will be in Silom. Generally speaking, during the 3 days of Songkran, Silom will be totally free of traffic and the whole street be transformed by a carnival.
The majority of participants will be young people from Bangkok, but with its increase in popularity, there will also be visitors from all round the world.
Participants carry water guns. They walk down the street wiping flour and shooting water on the faces of people they meet. This is to confer blessing in the New Year.
Some groups of young people drive around on pickup trucks and splash water on pedestrians. Your clothes will certainly be soaked.

Khao San Road
Khao San Road has always been a place where tourists gather, especially backpackers. When the Songkran Festival arrives, this place will become a water-fight paradise for all visitors.
If you venture onto any stretch along the entire length of the road during Songkran, then don't expect to leave with your clothes dry.
Beware: Remember not to bring bottles or cans onto the street during the 3 days of Songkran; there will be checkpoints at both ends to confiscate these items. In case you need some alcohol, bars will stay open throughout the festival.

The pool party at the W Hotel will be convened only on April 13th, from 1pm to 8pm. It is one of the best Songkran parties in town. If you are addicted to music and also want to experience the atmosphere of Songkran, this is the best place to go.
