The Royal Palace Museum is an attraction you can't miss if you want to learn more about the history and culture of Laos. The Royal Palace used to be the residence of King Sisavang Vong (r. 1904–59) and his family. You can see artifacts and exhibits relating to the royal family in Laos. Among them, Buddha figures, ornamental shrines and royal thrones are the major attractions in the Palace. The Buddha image, the Phra Bang, is said to be the most prized one in Laos. Remember to wear clothes that keep shoulders and knees covered (no shorts) to enter the museum.
