1. Buddha Park, Vientiane

Buddha Park, Vientiane

June is a good time to visit Vientiane's numerous gardens and parks, as the summer rains wash everything clean and fresh. Buddha Park is one of the most recommended. It is a sculpture park with more than 200 religious statues. Among them, the huge 40-meter-high (130-foot-high) reclining Buddha is the biggest sculpture. To take photo of it, you can climb up the giant pumpkin building, which is about 10 meters (33 feet) high. A relaxing activity is to walk around the gardens and learn more about the Buddhist stories and culture of Laos.

2. Laos Textile Museum, Vientiane

If you don't want to get wet on the rainy days in June, then the Textile Museum in Vientiane is a good place to learn more about Laos' clothing culture. There you can not only discover the history of textiles that have evolved and been passed down through the generations, but also experience the full process of making silk clothes. You can even try to make silk clothes by yourselves. The staff in the museum are friendly and kind, and would lead you to different parts of the buildings and explain their functions. A half day there would make you quite knowledgeable about Laos' clothing history.

3. The Living Land Farm, Luang Prabang

If you are traveling with children, then June is a great time to learn more about traditional farming in Laos' lush green countryside and paddy fields. A beautiful community farm outside Luang Prabang, The Living Land Farm attracts tourists from far and wide to experience rice planting and other farm activities, including ploughing by buffalo, sugar cane pressing, bamboo weaving, and so on. The farm provides a program to learn more about Laos' traditional faming. You can have lunch at the farm.

As the best-known waterfalls, the Kuang Si Waterfalls are located in the south of Luang Prabang. The waterfalls cascade down from a steep hillside on top of which are big shallow pools. The waterfalls are over 60 meters high. You could hire a motorcycle to ride among the beautiful villages, where you can meet local farmers. Our local guide would be able to facilitate this. Or you could take a boat tour, cruising downstream on the Mekong River.
