Family Trip to Thailand
Our trip to Thailand comprised three generations of the family , ten people and an age range of 4 to 70 so a potentially difficult brief.Our itinerary over two weeks involved four locations, and a number of different trips and tours.From out arrival at an extremely busy Bangkok airport Asia Highlights were terrific.In each location we were met by a smiling , knowledgeable and professional guide who simply made everything easy and stress free for everyone.Our transportation was clean and comfortable . Transport was always ready for us at the agreed time and the drivers were excellent.There were so many highlights enjoyed by all the age groups. The floating houses , railway market and elephant sanctuary were particular favourites.We had one minor glitch with the accommodation in Phuket which was immediately dealt with by Tip. I think we would have struggled to resolve the problem by ourselves. So, thank you Asia Highlights , Cathy, Tip and tour guides Tanny, Sam and Lisa. It was a memorable holiday and we will be back. You will explore the charming city of Hanoi with its top attractions: the historic Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, unique One Pillar Pagoda, iconic Ho Chi Minh's Stilt House, the Temple of Literature,and the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.
Head back to central Hanoi and hop on a local cyclo (a rickshaw) and catch a glimpse of city life by traveling around the bustling streets and quiet alleys, passing through the famed Old Quarter.
Conclude the day by watching an entertaining water puppet performance. Colorful wooden puppets depict scenes of rural life and episodes of national history set to music.
In the morning, you will be transferred from Hanoi to Halong Bay. Board the boat from your selected cruise at noon.
The first destination is Trinh Nu Cave, one of the finest sunlight-filled caves in Halong Bay, covering an area of 2,000 square meters with a stunning assortment of stalactites and stalagmites.
Swim in the 'love story' area of Halong Bay. Taste exquisite drinks from a vast selection in an open bar on board while enjoying the panoramic view of Halong Bay. Join in with other interesting activities on board.
Be surprised at Sung Sot Cave's beauty when you pay a visit to the largest and most renowned cave. Behold the impeccable creation by nature and use your imagination to connect with the ancient folklore.
After brunch, your cruise will come to an end and you will take a transfer to the airport in Hanoi for your onward flight.
Upon arrival in Siem Reap, your private tour guide and driver will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.
You will spend your day exploring the top temples of Angkor. Discover the hidden story of Angkor Thom from your knowledgeable guide, stroll among 200 carved smiling faces at Bayon Temple, discover Ta Prohm under towering trees, and walk through the extraordinary Preah Khan. The grandeur of Angkor Wat will remind you of its illustrious past.
Afterward, you will return to your hotel.
Start your day by visiting Banteay Srei, also known as the Citadel of the Women. You will be amazed by the most elaborate carvings in the red sandstone.
Head towards the Cambodia Landmine Museum where you will learn about how this life-threatening weapon has affected people's lives in the past and present.
Visit a village nearby to enjoy some palm candies and rice wine. Afterward, you'll take an ox cart ride through the countryside.
Move on to visit Tonle Sap Lake. Take a relaxing boat ride to Kampong Phluk. Continue your visit to a mangrove forest nearby and enjoy a sunset cocktail on the lake before returning to your hotel.
Your Siem Reap exploration will come to the end. Your private tour guide and driver will transfer you to the airport for your onward flight. Experience the morning chanting ritual at Wat Pho, which is one of the oldest temples in Bangkok. Take a tuk tuk ride via Pak Khlong Talat, a flower market, to the Grand Palace. Continue with a walk to the pier for a long-tail boat ride along the ancient canals of Thonburi to get a flavor of the local life. Stop at the photogenic Wat Arun, which was once the grand royal temple of King Rama II.
After lunch at a local restaurant, you will cross the river and be driven to Chinatown for a first-hand look at Old Bangkok.
