The Best Places to Visit in Singapore in April
Singapore is great to visit throughout the year weather-wise, with April falling outside of the peak travel season (which is November through to January as well as June and July) and outside of the monsoon season. This makes April as good a time as any to explore this incredible city-state.
1. See Plants and Flowers from all over the World at the Gardens by the Bay

When Singapore takes on a project it goes all out and nowhere is this more visible than the Gardens by the Bay, a national garden and horticultural attraction that was opened just over 10 years ago. In fact, its Flower Dome broke the Guinness World Record for the World's Largest Glass Greenhouse in 2012 and still holds it (2025).
The gardens are home to various different areas including cooled conservatories and what it calls Supertrees which are amazing high structures that look like trees from a different universe. They are located high up in the canopies for unparalleled views over the Gardens by the Bay and their surroundings.
This area also has a light and sound show every night which is free and a long skyway that you can walk along.
From sculptures from around the world, tropical plant and eco-system exhibits, and lots of rare types of trees and flowers from all over the world including thousand-year-old olive trees, the Gardens by the Bay are not to be missed. The only question is whether you want to spend a few hours there or a full day.
2. Eat a Delicious Lunch at Little India's Tekka Center
Given Singapore's diverse ethnic background, there are various parts of the city that are home to mostly people of a specific ethnicity or background. One of these is Little India, a culturally rich neighborhood that will give you a look into Indian culture.
We recommend visiting and starting off at the Hindu Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple with its beautiful roof decorations. The temple is one of the oldest Hindu temples in Singapore and was built by Indian pioneers who came to live there in the 1880s.
We also suggest checking out the Tekka Center, a shopping mall and food court located in Singapore's Little India. The original Tekka Center opened in 1915 and while it has since moved location, it has the same spirit and bustling energy. There are lots of food stalls there to have some lunch at as well as colorful shops selling Bollywood DVDs and shiny jewelry.
For more shopping, we suggest the Little India Arcade which is also an architectural landmark cluster of conserved neoclassical shophouses dating back to the 1920s. There are lots of vendors there selling traditional Indian fabrics and clothes and there are some more food stalls too in case you haven't had your fill.
3. Explore Singapore's Chinatown

For an area with a completely different atmosphere to Little India, check out Singapore's Chinatown, an ethnic enclave home to a blend of Chinese architecture, food, shops, traditions, and landmarks.
Here you will find the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple which plays a role in the Buddhist landscape in Singapore and is a beautifully intricate temple. There is also Thian Hock Keng Temple, a Taoist temple and perhaps unexpectedly, Chinatown is where you'll find the Hindu Sri Mariamman Temple, one of the most beautiful and the oldest Hindu temples in the city. This demonstrates just how diverse Singapore is.
Finally, we suggest visiting the Chinatown Street Market and then going over to Maxwell Food Center for some delicious food. You can read more about what to eat there in our article about visiting Singapore in February.
Given the variety of Singaporean cuisine, Asia Highlights also offers a food tour if you'd like some guidance on what to eat! Contact us to schedule a food tour of Singapore.
4. Take a Photo at the World-Famous Singaporean Merlion

As perhaps one of the best-known icons of the city, the Merlion is a must-see. It's located at the mouth of the Singapore river and is a statue of a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. The Merlion represents Singapore's history as a fishing village (seen in the fish body) and the city's original name "Singapura" ('lion city' in Sanskrit).
For more information about visiting the Merlion, the Singapore River, and the surrounding Clarke Quay you can read more in our article about visiting Singapore in January.
Low Season: Less Expensive and Fewer Crowds
April falls outside of the tourist season and is thus a great time of the year to visit with relatively fewer crowds and lower prices. We do recommend booking ahead still.
Singapore does celebrate Easter with Christians making up the second biggest religious group in Singapore. In 2025 Good Friday falls on April 18 which is a public holiday and in 2026 Good Friday falls on April 3. However, given Singapore's diverse make-up and its big focus on tourism, most attractions will be open on these days.
What to Wear in April
Singapore is hot year-round given its location close to the equator. As a result, we recommend dressing for the heat in summer clothing. This means packing your linen trousers, cotton t-shirts, summer dresses, and other loose-fitting light clothing as well as bringing a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
