We loved our experience in Bangkok with our guide Ying. She made everything easy to understand and enjoyable. She guided us through crowded areas with ease and always provided a detailed description of the sights. She also took pictures for us and sent them at the end of every day. The Best Places to Visit in Bali in September
September is a fine time to visit Bali's islands and beaches and for adventurous outdoor activities. Here are some of the most suitable places for you to explore and experience during your visit to Bali in September.
1. Padang Padang Beach for Sunbathing
Nestled in a small sandy cove, Padang Padang is surrounded by eye-catching rock formations. Famous as the setting for the movie "Eat, Pray, Love", it is great for surfing and sunbathing.
Of course, there are many other awesome beaches on Bali, from Jimbaran for sunsets and quiet to Seminyak for dining and nightlife. Visit the selection that suits you. September has nice beach weather!

2. Nusa Penida for Diving
September's dry season conditions mean it is still the time to go diving. Nusa Penida offers the best opportunities to see manta rays and September is in the middle of its Ocean Sunfish (Mola) period. With plenty of reef fish and turtles too, Nusa Penida has achieved Bali must-dive status, but its currents are unpredictable and challenging.
For easier dive sites, there is Tulamben with its Liberty wreck and Menjangan with an awesome coral wall. But whatever your level, diving is certainly recommended in September.

3. Nusa Dua for Watersports
Nusa Dua Beach, on the east of the peninsula, is known for its range of watersports. While the weather is fine in September, be adventurous and try a new one, as well as any favorites you have. There's jet-skiing, water-skiing and fly boarding, banana-boating, flying fish (riding a raft towed by a powerboat), wakeboarding, parasailing, surfing, snorkeling, and another place for scuba diving too.
4. Mount Agung for Volcano Hiking
If you're up for it, hike to Bali's highest point on the active Agung volcano (3,031 m altitude, almost 1,000 m above anything else on Bali). It is held as most holy by Bali's Hindus and hosts the island's largest temple.
For a much easier and more popular volcano hike there is Mount Batur (1,717 m), which many hike up in 2 hours for a lovely sunrise. September's dryness and cooler conditions make it ideal for a tropical trek.
Please note, it's a lot cooler on the high mountains: you'll lose around 6°C for each 1,000 m above sea level. Bring some warm clothing with you, especially for pre-dawn treks.
5. Jatiluwih for Rice Terrace Hiking
Jatiluwih is the most scenic area of Bali's rice terraces, with green loops of hillside paddies interspersed with palm trees creating a lovely landscape to explore and photograph, especially in September as crops ripen and sunshine is plentiful.
Tegalalang Rice Terraces are an hour closer to Ubud, only half an hour away, and more crowded. They are the more convenient, but not-so-relaxing option, especially in the dry-season high season.

Less Crowding and High Costs
The pleasant dry-season weather still attracts many people to holiday on Bali in September, however, as Bali enters into its shoulder season and children of many countries head back to school, hotel and flight prices reduce slightly. Expect similarly high costs to the July/August peak period, but less crowding especially in areas popular with families.
What to Wear in September
Pack light and cool clothing with quick-dry fabrics. Rain wear is generally unnecessary for September, though an umbrella can provide shelter from both the light showers and midday sun.
Sandals and light, breathable footwear are recommendable generally, though, if you want to go hiking on the terraces of Tegallalang or Mount Batur, stronger comfortable trainers or light hiking boots that protect your feet/ankles should be used.
UV levels will be high, so pack plenty of sun cream, a sunhat, and good sunglasses. Insect/mosquito repellent may be required, especially in evenings and rural areas.
For Bali's Hindu temples and religious sites, women, remember to bring long sleeves as well as a long skirt, trousers, or sarong with you if you are going to visit any temples. Men should also wear long sleeves and trousers in temples. Clothing your arms and legs will also help to shield you from the sun and mosquitoes.
