Spa Treatments
Thailand is famous for its therapeutic massage and natural healing. Most spa centers include many types of massage (with four hands, with stones, with coconut palms, foot massage, etc.), exfoliating baths with scented oils, yoga, meditation, herbal drinks, and much more.
Traditional Thai Massage
Traditional Thai massage does not make use of oils, but involves a mix of stretching and acupressure. An aromatherapy oil massage, instead, uses oil to massage your pressure points and stimulate circulation. The oils come from plants, leaves, and flowers, and are all natural.
Foot reflexology focuses on the lower part of the body, massaging your feet with movement aimed to improve circulation and relax your whole body.
A body wrap, on the other hand, focuses on the whole body. You will be pasted with herbs and wrapped in a plastic sheet. Lying under a heated blanket for 20 minutes, your whole body will be pampered and moisturized.
Benefits of Staying at a Spa
Staying at a spa is your opportunity to slow down and allow your body to regenerate.
Spa treatment improves blood circulation, gets rid of toxins, and releases serotonin, making you feel good. It is a good way to relieve chronic pain like arthritis and sciatica; and to clean your skin with body exfoliating treatments. You will feel rejuvenated, relaxed, and full of energy.
A Spa Day
A typical spa day works like this. Friendly staff will greet you and you will be directed to your private room (double room for couples and families). You usually start with a shower and a massage, and some treatments include tea or herbal drinks. After every bath, or every oil massage, you will have a shower, to cleanse your body and relax.
At the end, you can enjoy tea in a relaxation area and take your time before returning to the real world.
Spa Retreats
The many luxurious spa resorts in Thailand are often surrounded by stunning views, often close to white sandy beaches, crystal waters, and luxurious forests.
They are the perfect place for an intimate retreat: spas like Hideaway Hua Hin and Aleent Resort & Spa offer the best treatments and the most comfortable settings for you and your loved ones.
Six Senses Hideaway Hua Hin
Located in a peaceful area in the south of Hua Hin, the spa is surrounded by views of the Gulf of Siam. The resort, surrounded by tropical gardens and lotus ponds, offers a vast menu of massages, including facial and body treatments.
The 'Spa Experiences' menu covers the whole body. You can start with a yoga routine to cleanse your intestines; then move to Purity Detox, that will remove all the toxins and blood impurities from your body, giving you back your energy. Last, choose the Abhyanga Experience, which is ideal for reducing the signs of aging and relieving fatigue.
Aleenta Resort & Spa Phang Nga
In Phuket, this resort is the choice of many tourists looking for comfort and relaxation. It is extremely well-located, close to the many attractions of Phuket, especially the pristine waters and the stunning beaches.
The resort's Health and Wellness Consultation will give you a complete report on your body; its Mind Balance Experience includes yoga, meditation, healing spa treatments, and a healthy culinary program. Your body and your mind will be relaxed and purified, and you will be full of energy.

Hotel & Resort Spas
Most of Thailand's 5-star hotels and resorts have a spa where you can receive a wide range of professional healing treatments.
Phuket and Koh Samui are famous for their resorts, close to amazing beaches and surrounded by nature, and always offering high-quality spas, like the luxurious Anantara Resort & Spa Koh Samui, or Banyan Tree Spa Phuket, settled in breathtaking environments and away from the bustling city.
Anantara Resort & Spa Koh Samui
This resort is located on a quiet beach, and it offers luxury, comfort, and the famous Thai hospitality. Besides many outdoors activities, one of the highlights is its spa.
You can get a massage with oils that will promote circulation and relaxation, or indulge in a longer treatment (more than 3 hours) with Thai herbal steam, essence with coconut scrub, and royal Thai massage.
Perhaps the resort's most famous treatment is the Bophut Coconut Dream: using all that a coconut tree can offer, from the leaves to the branches, this ancient Thai treatment will radiate energy and warmth all over your body.
Banyan Tree Spa Phuket
This award-winning spa combines spa elements with healthy cuisine and wellness activities.
The Banyan signature treatments include many holistic ones: Tropical Rainmist, with baths, showers, and honey milk nourishment; the tailored experience of the Master Therapist, that will take care of you for 90 minutes, massaging your whole body; or Chevit, with Thai traditional massage, papaya pineapple refresher with steam bath, and aloe lavender moisturizer.
Day Spas
If you can't afford to spend two or more days at a spa, don't worry! There are plenty of spas offering daily treatments that last just a few hours: more than enough to relax and recharge your batteries. Oasis Spa offers a few treatments (especially massage) that last only a couple of hours; and Harnn Heritage Spa has various treatments that last from 60 to 180 minutes.
Oasis Spa
Oasis Spa has many locations around the country (including Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket) offering daily treatments. For example, the Magical Four Hand Package lasts only two hours: it starts with Oriental Foot Reflexology and a Silky Hair treatment. Then the four-hand massage will begin, and two therapists will work all over your body.
Other treatments (of the same duration) are the Sabai Stone Massage, where stones will melt away muscle-knots and relieve stress; or Ayurveda Massage, where a thorough scalp massage starts with warm oil dripping on your forehead.
Harnn Heritage Spa
The treatments at this spa are the heritage of ancient tradition, and they are all designed according to Asian medicine and naturopathy.
A traditional Thai massage, such as the Thai/Chinese Acupressure Massage, or the Thai Deep Tissue Massage, can last from 60 to 120 minutes. A body pampering, to restore the healthiness of your skin, usually lasts an hour, while signature treatments can last up to 3 hours.
For example, the Sukhothai Passage includes: a herbal tea bath, a body scrub, foot massage, Thai aromatic massage, and facial massage.
Have a Spa Treatment with Asia Highlights
A trip to Thailand would be incomplete without one of these stunning treatments. Asia Highlights can help you with booking and organizing your spa retreat, recommending to you only the best places, where your wellness and satisfaction are the primary concerns.
