Krabi is the ideal place if you are looking for a relaxing getaway. It’s quite popular among nature lovers and travelers who are looking for an unforgettable experience. Krabi’s nightlife is just as easygoing as the travelers it attracts. It has plenty of drinking joints for a night of relaxed merrymaking.
There are numerous activities you can do if drinking is not your type, such as see the traditional show at a park, try the street food at a local market and you can even spend a night fishing on the Andaman Sea. Krabi has plenty to offer.
Shopping at a night market is an exciting and pleasurable experience. Whether you are shopping for a suit or are just bargain hunting, or looking for that extra special 'something' for someone back home, shopping in Thailand can be fun.
Street vendors often seem to be on every street corner, showing you their goods (with a calculator in hand) from silk scarves, hammocks and sarongs to laser pens. If you are interested in any of the wares you find, then it is time to start bargaining. If you are not interested in what is on offer, simply smile and continue on your way.
The market is also surrounded by an impressive choice of stands selling prepared food, from grilled satay (chicken, pork or beef brochettes dipped in coconut cream, chili and peanut butter sauce) to barbecued fish, from fried squid egg or steamed crab to cakes and sweets (kanom in Thai).
A large choice of drinks is also available – fresh orange juice, fruit shakes and beers – and there even is an original stall that sells cocktails. There are also musical performances throughout the evening with children playing Thai tunes on traditional instruments. The night market is a must-visit if you are in Krabi.
The traditional Thai dance is symbolic of the Thai character itself. The art form is very strict, employing 108 basic movements and keeping the body upright from the neck to the hips, moving up and down using only the knees, and stretching to the rhythm of the music.
A great deal of symbolism is displayed in complex and beautifully executed finger and hand movements. Sometimes specially designed fingernails add to the effect and complement the splendor of the spectacularly ornate costumes. There are several classic dances in Thailand and one of the most famous is Fawn Thai.
Fawn Thai was originally an art performed at the royal courts of old Siam, where precision and beauty were the highlights of every performance. Today, although Fawn Thai is still an integral part of royal performances, the dancers are selected and trained from among the general public and the performances themselves are an event for the general public.
It is usually performed by four to six pairs of dancers, though this number can go up to a 100 for important occasions. This classic Thai dance can be seen at various cultural centers across the country. The costumes are rich in color and style and vary from region to region.
With so many things to do in Krabi, from climbing, trekking or lying on the beach, it is important to start your day in the right way. For many people, that means coffee! Krabi has some amazing cafés that are not only a great place to start a day but a great place to end your day too!

The joy of landing a huge catch, what is commonly called ‘a big one’ is immense, and the joy of taking a snap shot of the big one in your hands is even greater. Many people look forward to an unforgettable experience of deep sea fishing in Krabi and the surrounding sea. Spending quality time with your family or a group of friends together on a deep sea fishing adventure is something to cherish.
If you thought that fishing was either boring or hard work, a night out on a boat will change your mind. For a start, there is no question of casting your line and waiting for hours to see some action. All of the fishing tours use guides with expert knowledge of the local seas, which means the fish should almost be jumping out of the water. You can expect to catch anything from small to big fish!
The tropical water of the Andaman Sea is rich in fish. Teeming around the limestone outcrops are Cobia, Sailfish, Barracuda, Giant Trevally, Mackerel, Big Eye Tuna, Marlin, Queen Fish, Grouper, Snapper, Jacks and others. You never know what you will come up with, but that opportunity is real.
The Illumanorah show is the long awaited nightlife activity, a creative light and sound experience, interpreting the traditional Southern Thai folk tales of the Kinnaree (half bird and half woman figures) with a modern touch, and incorporating the southern dance of Manorah. The lighting, costumes, music and choreography are combined to make a thrilling, mainly wordless show that impresses visitors of all ages.
The show is held in the Paka Showpark, a brand new cultural venue in Krabi, that is designed to welcome visitors with a unique architecture that reflects the charm of Thailand’s southern region. The Paka Showpark will convey the spirit of the Andaman Sea, filled with beauty and magic. The performance starts at 8pm and lasts over one hour.
The theater, with over 200 seats, is located right at the highway Route 4 outside Krabi Town on the way to Tiger Cave Temple and Krabi Airport. Your five senses will be soothed by the music, lyrics and the cultural colors that will create a show with unique southern Thai flavor.
After the show you will have a chance to meet the performers and have your picture taken with them in costume at no additional charge. Don't miss this unique show and cultural experience under the starry sky of Krabi.
