Excellent guide in Siem Reap
Our recent time spent in Siem Reap was made even more memorable by our expert guide, Som Piseth. Som was knowledgeable, attentive, flexible and super helpful - we learnt so much about Siem Reap and Cambodia in our 3 days with him. His English was excellent and his knowledge of, and pride in, his country was outstanding. We would highly recommend Som for anyone wanting an excellent guide in Siem Reap! More

Asia Highlights trip to Thailand
Our first tour guide in Bangkok, Marie, was great to tour around with. She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and spoke wonderful English. Our next stop in Chang Mai we were greeted by our new tour guide, Rafael. He too was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and spoke wonderful English. He made it feel as if we were traveling around with a long time friend. Every time we arrived at a new destination, we were greeted at the airport by someone with a sign with our name making our travels easy. I would definitely recommend Asia Highlights to anyone looking for a well planned trip of a lifetime! More

Private tour perfect for our times
Asia highlights organized a private tour with our requests. Everything was perfect ?? the driver Tom and the guide Ying were always on time with a smile in their face. Always willing to help and make our trip perfect. Bangkok is a very hot city so we minimized the time outside. The driver always had cold towels for us in the van and cold beverages. More

Thailand
We loved Chiang Mai and Susie did a great job showing us several temples, taking many pictures of us with the elephants at the sanctuary (a definite highlight of the entire trip!), and making sure we were well fed, which became a running joke between us.We had a very relaxing few days in Phuket enjoying the beautiful beaches. Kai was great, answering all of our questions and giving us a nice tour of the old town. The all-day speedboat tour of the Phi Phi islands started off a little shaky as the sea was quite rough so if you’re at all uncomfortable bouncing around in a speedboat, you might want to skip that tour. Things did calm down as the day went on and some of the areas they took us to for swimming, snorkeling, etc were really beautiful. A couple of the islands were too crowded with people. More

Ask for Victor!
If you are traveling to Bangkhok you need to request Victor. He made our trip amazing! My family completed bucket list items with his guidance. He knew exactly how to get us places, kept us on time, made us feel safe, educated us on history, spoke excellent English and was genuinely a nice man! Everyone we encountered was awesome- but Victor is the reason for my 5 star review! More

Flavors of Krabi
Southern Thai food is one of the famous cuisines in the country and uses a variety of herbs and spices, creating aromatic tastes and smells. Krabi's cuisine is mostly influenced by Malaysian and Muslim cuisines but it still has the spiciness which represents Thai cuisine.
Mangroves and corals make the underwater world of the Andaman Sea fertile. Krabi has a long history of fishing industry and therefore seafood is the staple food of Krabi people today.
Due to Krabi's tropical climate, it is a perfect place for growing a huge variety of tropical fruit such as durian, pomegranate, mango, jackfruit, orange, pineapple, etc. Some Thai fruits are incredibly sweet and juicy, while the taste or texture might seem strange at first.
Food in Krabi
Krabi cuisine mainly is characterized by its unique and rich taste, the sauces here run yellow, orange and red, with combinations of shrimp, squid, fish, or pork, beef, or chicken, and an array of vegetables. Southern Thai dry fry curries (without coconut milk) are also popular here.
Seafood
Seafood in Krabi is abundant, used in many dishes and is also made into processed products. It is available at all main tourist destinations. Seafood includes aquatic animals such as fish and shellfish, as well as edible seaweed.
Krabi is home to a vast selection of beautiful fresh seafood. Try prawns, squid and mussels; they are simply yummy! A word of advice, though: Avoid the spicy seafood dip, it can be extremely piquant if you are not used to it.
Khao Man Kai
Its name literally means 'oiled rice chicken', but don't let this turn you off. This Thai version of Hainanese chicken rice is basically fragrant rice cooked in rich broth and topped with juicy and tender chicken. It's common to enjoy it with fresh salad, a spicy dip and a bowl of clear soup. It is widely available in most restaurants.
Hainanese chicken rice is most commonly associated with Singaporean, Malaysian and Hainanese cuisines, although it is also popular in Thailand. This is a dish adapted from early Chinese immigrants, originally from Hainan province in southern China.
Tom Yum
Tom Yum is a type of hot and sour Thai soup, usually cooked with shrimp (prawn). Tom Yum has its origin in Thailand. In recent years, Tom Yum has been popularized around the world. The soup often includes meat such as chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp.
Tom Yum is characterized by its distinct hot and sour flavors, with fragrant spices and herbs generously used in the broth. The basic broth is made of stock and fresh ingredients such as lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, lime juice, fish sauce, and crushed chili peppers. You can find this easily across the country and available at restaurants and food stalls.
Kaeng Tai Pla
This is a curry of the southern Thai cuisine. Its name is derived from Tai Pla, a salty sauce made from fermented fish entrails which gives the curry a strong smell and flavor. This curry is usually served with fresh vegetables in a separate plate and eaten along with steamed rice.
Kaeng Tai Pla is a highly spicy curry; it has a very intense umami taste. It is made mainly with fish and vegetables. Sometimes it includes prawns, and certain variants use coconut milk instead of water. The usual ingredients of the dish can include bamboo shoots, eggplants, pea eggplants, yard-long beans and fresh chilies. This curry is easy to find in restaurants or at markets in the southern part of Thailand
Yam Naem Khao Thot
Yam Naem Khao Thot (also known as Naem Khluk) is a salad made from crushed, deep-fried ball shaped croquettes made from sticky rice and curry paste as the main ingredients, tossed together with shredded fermented pork sausage, and mixed with peanuts, crushed dried chilies, lime juice, sliced shallots and fresh herbs, and served with a selection of fresh greens and additional herbs on the side. You can find this refreshing dish at street stalls or market stalls.
13-Day Essence of Thailand Tour:
Drinks in Krabi
Start your day with a cup of coffee or tea. If you need to cool down from the heat, grab a fresh juice from a food stall. After relaxing on the gorgeous beaches all day, it's natural to want to liven things up a bit in the evening, and Krabi certainly doesn't disappoint – from fancy cocktails to craft beers – all is available in Krabi.
Fruit Juices
You can't come to Thailand without stepping foot in at least one market. Thai markets are known to have all kinds of edible things, and fruit juices are surely part of them. Some seasonal fruit might not be found all year round, but if you are in Krabi during the high travel season, from November to March, you will certainly be running into these delicious and sweet juices.
Beer
For those who love beers, there are lots of bars in Krabi and some of them are just a few steps away from a beach. Bars in Krabi tend to be friendlier than those in Bangkok and Phuket. You can also try their local brew beers which usually are cheaper than international beers.
Coffee
With so much to do in Krabi province, from enjoying the gorgeous beaches to going on a trek up a mountain, it's essential that you start your day in the right manner. For many people, that means only one thing – coffee! Fortunately, Krabi is blessed with some fantastic coffee shops that are not only a great place to start your day, but a great place to end it too.
Tea
Tea in Thailand is a bit different because it is usually sweetened with sugar and condensed milk and served chilled. It is popular in Southeast Asia and is served in many restaurants that serve Thai food. Other ingredients may include orange blossom water, star anise, crushed tamarind seed or red and yellow food coloring, and sometimes other spices as well.
9-Day Thailand East Coast Island Hopping Tour:
Handpicked Restaurant in Krabi
We give a restaurant recommendation based on its excellent food and the comfortable and cozy ambience. Their service is top of the line, so you will not be disappointed.
Bellini Italian Restaurant
If you fancy a beachfront restaurant with excellent service, then make a stop at the Bellini Restaurant. Located only 30 minutes from Krabi town by car, this restaurant is worth a visit. Perfectly positioned next to the beach, Bellini is the place to eat, drink and relax with your family.
For a beachfront location that will make you linger by the water in the evening, pull up a chair at Bellini Restaurant. Specializing in authentic Italian cuisine, Bellini has perfected a delicious menu of handmade pastas and gourmet pizzas, as well as taking full advantage of its seaside locale with delicious seafood specialties and international highlights.
