Best and Worst Times to Visit Jaipur (updated for 2023)

By RitaUpdated Mar. 10, 2023

Located in north India, Jaipur is a must-see city on a golden triangle trip along with Delhi and Agra.

There are three seasons in Jaipur: dry season (October to March), hot season (April to June), and monsoon season (July to September). For the best weather, visit Jaipur in its dry season.

If you prefer Jaipur's coolest and driest weather, you should visit from December to February (Jaipur's peak season). If you want the lowest prices, then go to Jaipur between April and September. Meanwhile, March, October, and November perfectly balance weather conditions and price.

Best Time to Visit Jaipur: October to March

October to March is Jaipur's dry season with low(er) temperatures and cooling breezes. January is the coolest month when daily high temperatures are around 23°C (73°F). Rainfall drops to almost zero, but there might be a light shower or two in October.

If you're looking for pleasant weather, you're highly recommended to visit Jaipur during this period.

Best Time to Visit Jaipur for Cool Weather: December to February

You can fully indulge in the magnificent places and romantic atmosphere in Jaipur during this mid-winter period.

Different from the warm to hot weather in other months, you can enjoy sunny and cool days in Jaipur from December to February. The daily temperature range drops to around 10–25°C (50–78°F) during this period.

The favorable weather makes it the peak travel season in Jaipur, so you might encounter more crowds and higher room rates.

March, October, and November are considered the shoulder season months in Jaipur. You can expect to enjoy the iconic attractions with fewer crowds and sunny days while paying lower prices than during peak season.

Besides the good weather, you'll have chances to celebrate festivals with locals. Such close interactions would make your trip more memorable. If you're travelling in March, you could join in the local color fights during Holi.

For trips in October/November, you are likely to see India's most important festival: Diwali. You can learn to create rangoli (colorful home decorations), and light up diyas (clay lamps) with them. Check the sample itinerary about celebrating the diwali in Jaipur>>>

The Worst Times to Visit Jaipur: April to September

April to September is usually regarded as the worst time to visit Jaipur with the hot season (April to June) and monsoon rains (July to September).

However, this worst time always brings benefits: smallest crowds and lowest prices. Without long lines and tourist hubbub, you can have attractions (mostly) to yourself. Even at the hottest and wettest times, you can still make the best of your time with some good planning and indoor options, thereby minimizing the inconvenience as much as possible.

Hot Season in Jaipur: April to June

Neighboring the Thar Desert, the heat in Jaipur builds in April, reaches its peak in May, and gradually recedes in June. Daily temperatures get up to between 38°C (101°F) and 42°C (108°F).

To take advantage of cooler temperatures, outdoor activities are more advisable in the early morning or evening. A private air-conditioned car and cold drinks (which we provide on our tours) would be a refreshing complement to sightseeing.

Monsoon in Jaipur: July to September

July to September is the monsoon season in Jaipur as it is in most of India. However, thanks to its desert climate, Jaipur receives less rainfall than other cities, such as Delhi, Agra, and Goa.

The rainfall also brings cooler breezes, so you can go on your sightseeing more comfortably. Except for the wettest month (August), the rains are likely to fall in the late afternoon. Thus, sightseeing is still possible during the morning hours.

Travelling during the monsoon, you're suggested to keep your itinerary flexible for potential changes. If you meet rainfall, why not learn to cook authentic Indian food with locals? Admiring the rainy city views from a rooftop café is a good idea too. Or visit Jaipur's museums/palaces for a date with Indian history.
